My first battle was amazing, even though we lost. It was me, my friend, and this junior who had much swag. We were against this group of crazy dancers. We knew it’d be impossible for us to win, because we’re the noobs and they have experience.

It started from their side, and then the junior on our side went. Next came another girl from theirs, and my friend went. The last guy danced, and then it was my turn. Each of them freestyled like bosses and I knew I couldn’t do anything even close.

So, I went for it.

I jumped into the music and just went crazy, first grooving towards the three figures. I found myself doing this random chest pop and I surprised myself. After that, I toprocked back to start my breaking. My feet were so confused and afraid to move. I just let go and everything happened. Then I popped down to freeze, and I was too far. I was afraid of banging my head onto the floor, so I dropped my arm so I could roll over. The battle was over. We lost, but everyone saw for the first time how I danced. It felt so good to get out there. (:
